ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

In addition to supporting all network services, VoIP services, video services, and all related functions of the network, the Network Administrator will be responsible for the Google Workspace for Education environment and support the DCS Help Desk.  This position will work closely with the Systems Administrator and other Technology staff members supporting the needs of the organization and Delaware City Schools. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Operates day-to-day functions as requested by the Chief Technology Officer
  • Collaborates with IT staff to diagnose and solve problems that may arise in the day to day operation of the IT infrastructure
  • Provides regular status and data reports as requested by the Chief Technology Officer or META Chief Information Officer
  • Assists in establishing network specifications by conferring with users/customers; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router/switch administration, including interface configuration and routing/switching protocols
  • Monitors network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency
  • Assist with planning and executing of the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of network equipment, troubleshooting network problems, repairing outages, escalating problems to vendor
  • Documents network by labeling/inventory of network equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications
  • Provides support for network services such as web content filtering, DDoS mitigation, VPN, load balancers, remote employees, softphones, video conferencing
  • Assists with network upgrades
  • Manages Google Workspace for Education environment
  • Provides support for district Help Desk via phone call and ticketing systems to assist users, while maintaining positive customer experience
  • Updates job knowledge with lab work or other educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • When requested, participates in non-standard business hours work to perform network maintenance tasks or resolve network issues
  • Protects organization's assets by keeping information confidential
  • Assists with designing and implementing cybersecurity and disaster recovery plans for varying situations if the network fails, malfunctions or is compromised
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor
  • Complies with all META policy, by-laws, and conditions of employment

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Preferred associate’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience
  • Effective and efficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel
  • Ability to multitask and execute duties according to deadlines
  • Ability to work individually or in a team
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Finds creative solutions to complex problems
  • Stays informed of new developments in technology
  • Organized and self-motivated
  • Has a keen eye for details and accuracy
