ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The Cisco Networking Academy Specialist supports the operations of the Cisco Academy Support Center and Instructor Training Center. This role involves providing daily assistance via phone and email to academies affiliated with META’s Support Center. The Specialist will also coordinate training opportunities for new instructors, ensuring they are properly onboarded and prepared to deliver Cisco Academy curriculum.

 

This position will report to any of META’s five office locations (Athens, Columbus, Dayton, Marion, or Piketon) one day per week and remote 4 days per week as schedules allow.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Deliver initial and ongoing support to academies. Email, phone, virtual meetings, social media, and WebEx recordings are tools that are used to reach our instructors both synchronous and asynchronous
  • Assist with marketing efforts and help organize both live and virtual events that promote and support Cisco Networking Academy initiatives
  • Build a strong community of Cisco Academy instructors by sharing best practices, instructional strategies, and course materials
  • Collaborate with educators to support curriculum implementation, provide faculty development, and assist schools interested in launching or expanding their Cisco Networking Academy programs
  • Teach and/or assist with instructor training classes
  • Provide orientation for new Cisco Academy administrators and instructors
  • Provide solutions to problems with https://www.netacad.com
  • Learn and advertise new Cisco Academy courses
  • Assist in ordering and upgrading equipment
  • Direct academies to resources and support
  • Localize and distribute important communications from Cisco and state agencies to ensure partner schools stay informed and aligned with relevant updates and requirements
  • Familiarize academies with new tools
  • Build awareness and offer training on available and updated resources and tools
  • Offer advanced training opportunities
  • Direct and promote student competitions and events
  • Recognize outstanding academies and students
  • Contribute proactively to the online community discussion boards to help connect members to available resources and the latest program information
  • Extend optional site visits to Cisco Academies upon request
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships and high levels of communication
  • Develop and nurture relationships with Cisco Systems Managers
  • Maintain a clear focus on costs, income, and value-added services
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology preferred
  • Background in teaching
  • Ability to set goals and objectives
  • Ability to prioritize customer needs
  • Skilled communicator in both written and verbal ability
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities
